Good afternoon Warren Students, Families, and Staff,
We have a couple of important announcements for the week of September 21, 2022.
In partnership with the Ransburg YMCA, our Warren Central High School Boys’ and Girls’ Basketball Coaches are hosting the Warren Central Black and Gold Youth Basketball Clinic this Saturday, September 24th, from 10 am - 12 pm at the Warren Central High School Fieldhouse. Enter through door 14. This event is free for all K-4 boys and girls! If you have questions, contact information can be found on the attached flier.
Also, this Saturday, September 24th, the Moorhead Community Resource Center is hosting the Latino Heritage Festival from 1 - 6 pm. Please see the attached flyer for additional information. It is going to be a beautiful afternoon!
Tomorrow night at Raymond Park Intermediate Middle School is the 21st Century Scholar Program for all Warren 7th and 8th-grade families. The program starts at 6 pm.
Please begin marking your calendars for our two very important upcoming dates. Our fall intersession break begins Monday, October 3rd, and ends Friday, October 14th. Students will resume on Monday, October 17th. The second important upcoming date is Parent Teacher Conferences on Thursday, October 20th. This is a no-school day for students so that parents and teachers can meet.
Another reminder that textbook rental invoices will be sent to families for this school year. To apply for textbook rental assistance, please visit www.lunchapplication.com. Paper applications are available at your child’s school. To be considered for assistance, applications for free textbooks must be submitted no later than September 30. The district will begin sending invoices in early September, including instructions for how to pay for those families who do not qualify for assistance. If you have questions, please contact Linda Sponsel 869-4300.
MCRC will again be offering free and fresh produce to all Warren staff and families on Tuesdays throughout September from 6 - 7 pm.
Students, families, and staff, I want to conclude with an important message about safety. The safety of our students and staff has always been and will continue to take precedence in all of our schools and on all of our campuses. Each year, we communicate our expectations, resources, and support through our Student Success Handbook, linked here. Daily, our teachers and staff teach and reinforce Citizenship, Civility, Order, Respect, and Excellence (CORE) through our K-8 Second Steps and 9-12 Character Strong lessons. These lessons focus on social and self-awareness skills that help our students navigate challenging situations with others. Each of our schools is staffed with a team of trained adults to provide supervision and support for our students and staff as well as be a resource for our families. Linked here and attached to this email is a list of our leadership and support roles for each of our Warren schools. I encourage our students and families to connect with any of these individuals if you are in need of support.
Additionally, our MSD Warren Township School Police has a consistent presence in our schools and on our campuses. We have 8 school resource officers and 10 school safety officers. Additional information about our Warren Police and District Safety can be found linked here and on our District website.
We ask that our students, staff, and families also make safety their top priority and assist us with the sharing of information to prevent an incident or to inform us of an incident that has occurred. As a reminder, we have a Safety Concern Hotline, 317-532-3049, and an online form that can be used to share this information. This information can be shared anonymously or by providing your contact information.
Maintaining a safe learning environment is a collective responsibility that is dependent on all of us working together to ensure the safety of our students, staff, and schools.
Thank you for your continued investment in Warren students, staff, and schools.
Together…#WarrenWill grow our students.
Dr. Tim Hanson, Superintendent of Schools for MSD Warren Township
