Senior Sarah Anderson

The girls lacrosse team has a large number of seniors graduating from the program this year, but out of these seniors there is one person who stands out. Senior Sarah Anderson, a goalkeeper, has been on the team for the past four years, with this year being her last at Warren Central.

“I’m excited to move on and get started with my future, but I am sad to go, especially because it means leaving lacrosse behind,” Anderson said. “Lacrosse will be one of the things I miss the most from high school.”

After graduating from high school, Anderson plans to move on and further her education by going to college.

“My plans after graduation are to attend Indiana University Bloomington and study biology in hopes of eventually going to medical school to become a doctor,” she said.

Being on a sports team in high school can provide a very rewarding experience and allow for more personal growth. In addition to these benefits, it can also serve as a place to make new friends and form a deeper connection with one another.

“It's been really fun; I’ve gotten a lot closer to her over the years, and I am just very grateful that I’ve been able to be on the same team as her, along with my other teammates too,” senior Hannah Nicholas said.

While Anderson has had a good experience playing lacrosse, there were also some challenges that she faced throughout her time on the team.

“The biggest obstacle I’ve had to overcome during my career in lacrosse is trying to get myself out of my own head when I’m having a rough game,” she said.

With the position of goalkeeper often being overlooked on the playing field, Anderson’s teammates appreciate her being part of the lacrosse team.

“Being on a team with Sarah has been rewarding,” senior D’Aysia Jackson said. “She brings focus and determination into everything she does. While she may come off as shy at first, the moment she has a stick in her hand and the ball is coming her way, she pushes all of that aside and stands strong.”
