Every year the after-school club United Hearts hosts the last dance of the school year called Fiesta, originally known as Fiesta Latina. The event takes place on the first Friday of the week in May, celebrating more than 30 cultures with the theme being “Around the World.”

Fiesta is the cheapest dance of the year with tickets being $10, and they will go on sale in both cafeterias soon. The reason Fiesta Latina was renamed to Fiesta was because it was originally focused on representing Hispanic and Latino culture in Warren Central when Latino students felt out of place and were then given a place where they fit in. Now Fiesta is made to recognize all the cultures in Warren and recognize all the countries that are represented in the school.

“We are hoping the club will evolve in the way our student body has evolved,” United Hearts adviser Susan Kalberer said.

Now the event focuses on highlighting all the countries that are represented at Warren and also helping students who are from different countries feel welcomed.

The most unique aspect of Fiesta is that, every year, members of United Hearts have planned different dance routines with dances from other countries that they can teach to anyone who attends and who would like to learn. Last year's theme was a masquerade ball where students could create their own masks, and then later on into the night whoever had the best designed mask won the competition.

There are also more activities that are available at Fiesta that are available every year, like flag coloring, where students can write their name on the back of the flag of their country of origin and then color the flag. At Fiesta there will be food provided, trivia, a craft station and a booth hosted by the Spanish Honor Society.

The dance will run from 6:15 to 10 p.m. on May 2. Students must have their student ID in order to enter and must enter through door 21.
